  1. Parenthood is a show on NBC in its second season. For those of us with children, this show deals with so many relevant issues.

The latest episode dealt with the issue of Teens having sex on Prom night.

The realities of teens becoming sexually active is high. So talking with your teens and tween early about what you expect from them in this area is very important.

The link I posted with here shares a few strategies and trends with teens when it comes to sex.

From an early age, I have spoken to my daughters about staying pure and waiting until they are married to have sex. My youngest, 10 years old, doesn't know exactly what I'm saying when I speak to my older daughter, but she hears the message that her parents are setting a boundary that is in place to protect, and honor her. Along with the Biblical teaching that God has preserved sexual intimacy for the covenant relationship entered into through marriage.

As Parents, it is our job to teach our children why they need to wait. To wait, even if we didn't. They can learn from our mistakes..that is if we commit to living from the principle we are trying to teach. 85% of teens do not have a role model to look to in this area. Which makes it all the more important for Caring Adults with strong values to mentor and teach young people.

It is from the context of this relationship (Caring Adult Mentor and Teen)that the teen can receive guidance in life and faith...how to allow faith to impact life decisions...how to stand against what everyone else is doing and choose what is holy instead.

    What do you think?
